Ukraine says its military did not violate Starlink terms, disputing Elon Musk claim

Ukraine says its military did not violate Starlink's terms, disputing Elon Musk's claim, after SpaceX restricted the satellite service's speeds. A defence technology adviser to President Zelenskyy says civilian Starlink in Ukraine has long had a 70-to-90 km/h speed limit and does not work in Russia, so it cannot be used for deep offensive drone strikes. Officials say the speed caps were lifted Saturday and service was restored.
- A defence technology adviser to President Zelenskyy said civilian Starlink in Ukraine has long had a 70–90 km/h speed limit and does not work in Russia, so Ukraine cannot use the commercial service for deep or medium-range offensive drone strikes.
- Musk acknowledged Saturday that SpaceX throttled Starlink, saying the civilian service was never allowed for offensive strikes; control of changes to the military Starshield service is disputed between Musk, President Trump and Vice-President Vance.
- Starlink and Starshield are critical to Ukraine's wartime connectivity; earlier this month Starshield-linked drones lost connectivity at high speeds during Russian attacks, and officials said the speed caps were lifted Saturday and service restored.
- Zelenskyy said Sunday that Russia launched nearly 2,300 drones at Ukrainian cities over the past week, and separate overnight attacks reported Sunday killed four people.
