WHERE DO YOUR CUSTOMERS GO?

During pandemic lockdowns and restrictions, you may have found that your business has experienced difficulty in finding walk-in customers to generate enough sales; particularly in the Food & Beverage sector.  So, where do they go? Most of us believe they just stay home or move away. They cook by themselves. There is less shopping. The consumption of products or services are significantly reduced.

Have you wondered why there are some people are getting much richer such as Jeff Bezos (the founder of Amazon), Elon Musk (CEO & founder of Tesla & SpaceX), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook & Metaverse), Jack Ma (Alibaba & AliExpress), Larry Page & Sergey Brin (Google), Bernard Arnault & family (empire of 70 brands including Louis Vuitton, Sephora and Tiffany & Co), …?

Thank to pandemic (Covic-19 lockdowns), people are shifting in-person to online shopping, and this made Jeff Bezos (Amazon) become the richest person in the world for the fourth year running, worth $177 billion.

For the food & beverage industry, we are getting familiar with delivery service apps such as Uber Eat, Foodora, GoodFood, Voila, Instacart, Doordash, Skip The Dish... People take out and eat at home instead of dining in.

Yes, now you understand your customers do not stop shopping or eating but they even eat, drink and shop more at home! They go online!

The new Covic-19 variants keep coming. Many store owners are losing hope for the future. They don’t believe we will be back to normal life any time soon. We are admitting the new normal instead; and that is online era where students take online classes via Zoom; professionals work remotely from home.

Currently there are more than an estimated 2.62 billion people connected via different social networks, by 2021 the number will rise to over 3 billion, resembling over one third of the global population.

So, now you know where they are. However, how to get them to order from your store is the real question. You have to give those startup apps great attention. You have to learn how to attract new customers. You have to build good image online. You have to be active on social media. You have to be a brand.

When you have a product but not a brand, you have to work hard for your product. Once you earn a brand, it works for you” - Kevin Lyson
